Five Stakes Including the $55,726 Bank of America Texas Challenge Will be Contested

HOUSTON, TX - Sam Houston Race Park presents the final four days of the 2021 Quarter Horse live racing season with evening cards set for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The Friday, August 6th program includes two Graded Arabian Stakes. Fillies and mares will compete in the one-mile $30,000-added Texas Arabian Oaks (G3) and their male counterparts will travel one and one-sixteenth miles in the $30,000-added Texas Arabian Derby G3). Saturday’s finale features five stakes as well as the presentation of the leading owner, trainer and jockey awards.

HOUSTON, TX -It has been ten years since the $435,910 TQHA Sale Futurity took place at Sam Houston Race Park.  on Friday, July 9. Due to a change in the racing calendar, the championship for 2-year-olds who had passed through the annual TQHA Yearling Sale took place at Retama Park. But as a result of damage to the San Antonio racetrack from the February winter storm, the championship returned to Houston and fans were able to see a quality field and effortless performance by Doc McCrocklin.

HOUSTON, TX - Sam Houston Race Park will kick off its 2022 live racing season on Thursday, January 6 with an expanded 50-day Thoroughbred meet.  The Thoroughbred meet will conclude on Saturday, April 9 The dates were approved by the Texas Racing Commission on Tuesday, July 27.

HOUSTON, TX - Sam Houston Race Park hosted trials Friday night for the $89,180  Sires’ Cup Derby and the $155,880 Sires’ Cup Futurity (RG3). Daily showers in Houston throughout the week, so the card began on a muddy racetrack, but was upgraded to good prior to the trial races.
