AT SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK
Due to inclement weather Sam Houston Race Park was forced to cancel races 3-10 on Saturday, May 15.
Two stakes, the $69,390 John Deere Texas Juvenile Challenge (G3) and the $44,460 Adequan Texas Derby Challenge, were scheduled Saturday evening. Sam Houston Race Park has decided to run both stakes on the Monday, May 16 closing day card. They will run as races 13 and 14, and will be run as pari-mutuel races.
"This was a difficult situation for both Sam Houston Race Park and the horsemen with finalists in the two Challenge stakes," said Jen Perkins, AQHA director of racing. "Several options were discussed and the decision was made to add both finals to the Monday card. Texas horses have always been well-represented in the Bank of America Challenge Championships and we look forward to seeing these winners compete on October 29 at Los Alamitos."
Post time for the final day of the racing season is 1:00 pm. with fourteen races on the program. Fans are invited to enjoy free admission and the presentation of the end of the meet awards for leading owner, trainer and jockey.
