The final night of the 2018 Sam Houston Race Park Quarter Horse live racing season is Saturday, May 12. The ten-race card will feature three stakes: the $50,000 Sam Houston Classic (G2); the $25,000 Governors’ Cup Marathon and the $15,0000 Texas Twister. The meet’s leading owner, jockey and trainer will also be honored in between races on Saturday evening.

Sam Houston Race Park will present an action-packed weekend of live racing and the always thrilling simulcast of the 144th Running of the Kentucky Derby. Live racing resumes on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 pm with the $20,000 Sam Houston Stakes as the weekend’s lone stakes feature.

Serendipity Rocks Pulls the Upset in the $191,900 Sam Houston Derby (G3)
It was a glorious evening at Sam Houston Race Park with ideal weather conditions for the richest race of the 2018 Quarter Horse Meeting, the $440,600 Sam Houston Futurity (G2). Showing even more speed and professionalism than his trial win was fourth-fastest qualifier FM Im A Zatanaz Too who won the final for owner Jose Fabian Hernandez of Georgetown, Texas.

Three stakes will be contested Saturday, April 28th at Sam Houston Race Park. The nine-race program begins at 6:10 pm with the finals of the $440,600 Sam Houston Futurity (G2), the $191,900 Sam Houston Derby (G3) and the $44,060 Sam Houston Juvenile.
JESS BEIN THE HERO FLAWLESS IN THE $67,680 BANK OF AMERICA TEXAS CHALLENGE (G2) AT SAM HOUSTON RACE PARK
Jess Bein the Hero entered the starting gate for tonight’s $67,680 Bank of America Texas Challenge Championship (G2) at Sam Houston Race Park in search of his fourth consecutive victory. With jockey Jorge Linares in the irons, the 5-year-old Texas-bred not only added to his win streak but proved his fortitude at the “classic” distance of 440-yards.
