Trials for the Sam Houston Derby (G3) Set for Saturday Night

HOUSTON, TX - The 2021 Quarter Horse racing season at Sam Houston Race Park gets underway on Friday, April 23with a ten-race card, beginning at 6:45 pm (CT). The 2020 live meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but interest from horsemen has been very strong for this year’s 23-day meet, which continues through Saturday, June 12.

HOUSTON, TX - Sam Houston Race Park saluted accredited Texas-breds Saturday, March 20 with seven Texas Champions Day stakes. It was an exceptional renewal of the annual racing event with many compelling story lines. Several undisputed favorites did not disappoint and there were plenty of impressive performances from first-time stakes winners.  From the $100,000 Spirit of Texas to the final stakes on the card, the $100,000 Yellow Rose, there were thrills for each of the connections as well as racing fans in Houston and those watching via simulcasting.
